Casillero del Diablo has launched its most recent creation in Chile, the new Reserva Privada Carmenere, made with carefully selected grapes from vineyards in the exclusive Peumo zone of the Rapel Valley.
“This Carmenere comes from soils with alluvial characteristics and a silty-clay texture and a Mediterranean climate with a prolonged dry season. The advantage of this zone is that it does not suffer from temperature extremes due to the constant influence of the Cachapoal River and Rapel Lake, which moderate the high and low temperatures,” says Casillero del Diablo winemaker Marcelo Papa.
The 2014 vintage of Reserva Privada Carmenere is a deep, dark red in colour with delicate notes of plums and a touch of spice on the nse. The palate presents good structure and density along with velvety tannins. It is ideal with various cuts of red meats and aged cheeses.
